The City of Forsyth is located in the rolling
hills of the piedmont with Atlanta being sixty miles to the North on
I-75 and Macon being twenty miles to the South on I-75. The City of
Forsyth is in the middle of the premier economic corridor of
the state in which the City enjoys a steady organized
economic growth. We are close enough to metropolitan Atlanta to
enjoy its business and cultural advantages but not too close to lose
the warm, relaxed atmosphere and scenic rural charm of small town
The City of Forsyth was incorporated in 1823 with
a long history of people to whom religion, education and agencies of
self-government were very important. With this in mind, the
community has maintained its history by promotion of historic tours,
and the development and operation of a Historical Society.
In the past several years, the city has been
proactive in a number of areas, from our infrastructure to economic
development to ready our community for the next millennium. In this
course of action, the city has created a state of the art
telecommunication system in which the city has connected our
community schools to the electronic information highway as an
investment in our children's future and our community's future.
